The construction office operated by the Houthi militia in Ibb Governorate continues to manipulate building plans amid rampant financial and administrative corruption. This situation has sparked widespread discontent among local residents and activists.
Activists report that the office has issued building permits in Street 24 in the Al-Dhabari area of the Jibla district, located west of the city. Additionally, they have granted permits for projects in areas previously designated as public roads. Furthermore, construction is underway in drainage channels and flood pathways in the Al-Hawj Al-Qabli area north of Ibb. Owners of these projects reportedly obtained permits in exchange for bribes.
These troubling practices coincide with allegations against the director of the construction office, who is accused of selling building plans for financial gain. Local militia leaders appear complicit, as they reportedly receive a share of these bribes. This situation highlights the chaos and corruption plaguing institutions in the governorate under Houthi control.
The ongoing manipulation of construction plans in Ibb not only undermines local governance but also poses significant risks to community safety and infrastructure. As residents and activists voice their concerns, the need for accountability and reform becomes increasingly urgent.
