A workshop on government auditing for oversight and inspection management at the provincial level has successfully concluded.

Training Workshop on Government Auditing and Accountability Concludes in Aden

A training workshop focused on official government auditing and accountability concluded today in Aden, Yemen’s temporary capital. The event, organized by the Raneen Development Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Administration, aimed to enhance institutional and economic resilience in Yemen. This initiative, known as the Accountability Toolkit, received support from the European Union.

Objectives of the Workshop

The workshop attracted local authority leaders from five governorates: Aden, Hadramout, Taiz, Lahij, and Marib. Its primary goal was to strengthen oversight and inspection management at the governorate level. Participants engaged in discussions and activities designed to improve their understanding of effective auditing practices.

Minister Emphasizes Importance of Training Outcomes

During the closing session, Minister of Local Administration Hussein Al-Aghbari highlighted the significance of applying the workshop’s findings and recommendations. He stated that financial and administrative oversight at both the central and local levels serves as the backbone of the administrative structure. This oversight is crucial for enhancing the quality and control of financial and administrative performance.

Al-Aghbari also underscored the vital role of internal and regulatory oversight in combating corruption. He emphasized that strengthening accountability and transparency is essential for eliminating corruption sources.

Government’s Commitment to Strengthening Oversight

The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to activating oversight bodies and internal management across all government institutions. He called for the implementation of corporate governance principles and the enhancement of oversight effectiveness.

In closing, Al-Aghbari expressed gratitude to all local authority leaders who participated in the workshop. He encouraged them to maximize the benefits gained from the training, reinforcing the importance of their roles in fostering accountability and transparency within their respective governorates.
