A workshop in Mukalla calls for support for teachers and improvements in education quality.

Workshop Aims to Enhance Education in Yemen

The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Hadhramaut Foundation for Human Development, recently organized a scientific workshop in Mukalla. This event gathered a wide range of academic elites and educational leaders to discuss strategies for improving public education in Yemen.

Objectives of the Workshop

The workshop aimed to identify urgent solutions for enhancing teachers’ conditions and ensuring the continuity of the educational process. Participants evaluated successful educational experiences and drew inspiration from both international and local best practices.

Minister’s Opening Remarks

In his opening speech, Minister of Education Tarek Al-Akbari emphasized the workshop’s importance in systematically diagnosing the current state of education. He called for practical recommendations that align with the ministry’s goals and field needs. Al-Akbari highlighted that teachers are the cornerstone of the educational process, asserting that improving their situation should be a top priority.

Collaborative Efforts for the New Academic Year

The minister also noted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to prepare for the upcoming academic year. This preparation involves collaboration with both governmental and private sectors to address challenges facing the educational sector. He praised the contributions of the Hadhramaut Foundation and other supporting entities for their role in the workshop’s success.

Local Official’s Support

Engineer Amin Barzeeq, the Deputy Governor of Hadhramaut for Technical Affairs, acknowledged the ongoing mission of education in liberated provinces despite challenges. He expressed confidence that the workshop’s outcomes would significantly contribute to improving the educational landscape.

Commitment to Educational Initiatives

Engineer Tarek Balhashar, the General Director of the Hadhramaut Foundation, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives. He stressed the need for joint efforts between the government and the private sector to realign educational policies, ensuring stability and quality.

Key Discussions and Recommendations

The workshop featured four scientific papers addressing the current state of education, successful experiences, the role of civil society in educational development, and the importance of integrating 21st-century skills into curricula. The discussions were enriched by extensive debates and quality interventions.

The workshop concluded with several key recommendations, including financial and professional support for teachers, organizing a comprehensive national education conference, and adopting practical steps to tackle challenges in the educational process based on field needs.
