The Presidential Leadership Council has expressed deep concern over the recent terrorist attack targeting the convoy of Major Hamdi Shukri, commander of the Second Giants Brigade. This heinous act resulted in the deaths of five brave members of the armed forces and injured three others while they were fulfilling their national duty.
The Council emphasizes that this cowardly crime represents another attempt to destabilize the security situation in Yemen. It comes at a critical time when the state, supported by its loyal allies in Saudi Arabia, is working towards unifying security and military decisions and restoring state institutions. The Council honors the martyrs and wishes a swift recovery for the wounded. It reaffirms its commitment to the Yemeni people that the blood of the martyrs will not be in vain. The state will pursue the perpetrators and anyone who supports or funds them, taking all necessary legal measures.
The Council stresses that the state is in an open confrontation with terrorism, which poses an existential threat to sovereignty, stability, and development. The timing and nature of this crime reveal the dangerous collaboration between terrorist groups and smuggling networks, aiming to undermine national security and weaken the state’s ability to protect its achievements. However, with the vigilance of state institutions and the unity of the people, these attempts will not succeed.
In this context, the Council commends the heroic efforts of the armed forces and all military and security formations, particularly the Second Giants Brigade, in combating terrorism, smuggling, and organized crime. It pledges full support for these efforts, aiming to enhance their capabilities and enable them to perform their duties with high national responsibility.
The Council expresses its profound appreciation for the efforts of Saudi Arabia, led by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in maintaining the cohesion of Yemeni state institutions and promoting unified security and military decisions. This historical moment represents a genuine opportunity to establish a model for regional and international partnership in combating terrorism, thereby enhancing security in Yemen, the region, and the world.
The Council urges all national forces and political components to rise to the challenge and view this crime as an attack on the state as a whole. It calls for unity, the rejection of disputes, and the protection of the gains achieved on the path to restoring state institutions and ending the Houthi coup backed by the Iranian regime.
The Council appeals to the great Yemeni people to remain vigilant and avoid falling for calls for incitement or chaos that threaten public peace, exacerbate the humanitarian crisis, and disrupt state institutions. It emphasizes the importance of safeguarding national achievements, which have been secured through the blood of martyrs and the sacrifices of heroes.
Finally, the Council calls on all security and military agencies, as well as law enforcement authorities, to fully assume their national responsibilities in maintaining public order. It stresses the need for strict enforcement of the state of emergency and the pursuit of terrorist cells and their logistical and financial networks. This approach will ensure the deterrence of such crimes and reinforce the authority of the state and the rule of law across all provinces.
