A soldier from the Syrian Arab Army was killed, and another sustained serious injuries due to a mine explosion while they attempted to defuse it in the Al-Mayadeen area of eastern Deir ez-Zor.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the explosion occurred during a field mission to dismantle mines in the region, resulting in one soldier’s death and significant injuries to the other.
Authorities continue to carry out mine clearance operations and remove remnants of war in several areas across Syria. These efforts aim to reduce the risks that threaten both civilians and military personnel.
On October 17, a member of the military engineering department of the Syrian Army was killed, and another was injured while performing a mine-clearing mission in the Al-Tanf area of eastern Homs.
