Celebration of the 61st Anniversary of the October 14 Revolution in Marib
Today, Marib Governorate hosted a vibrant artistic and speech event to commemorate the 61st anniversary of the October 14 Revolution. The celebration, organized by the leadership of the Resistance of the Aden Region, attracted a large audience eager to honor this pivotal moment in Yemen’s history.
Political Leaders Convey Greetings
During the event, Abdullah Abu Al-Ghaith, Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, and Major General Adel Al-Qumairi, Inspector General of the Armed Forces, delivered heartfelt greetings from the political leadership, represented by the President and members of the Presidential Leadership Council. They extended their congratulations on the anniversaries of Yemen’s revolutions: September 26, October 14, and November 30.
Significance of the October 14 Revolution
Abu Al-Ghaith and Al-Qumairi emphasized the importance of celebrating the October 14 Revolution, highlighting its profound implications for future generations. They reflected on the sacrifices made by the martyrs of this revolution, which culminated in the expulsion of British colonial forces on November 30, 1967, and the achievement of national unity on May 22, 1990.
The leaders noted that the October 14 Revolution naturally extended from the September 26 Revolution, marking significant events that transformed the lives of Yemenis and altered the course of history, particularly in southern Yemen. They asserted that the revolution’s importance lies not only in its role as a catalyst for liberation from colonial rule but also in its contribution to establishing a unified national identity.
Addressing Current Threats
Abu Al-Ghaith and Al-Qumairi warned against the resurgence of the Imamate project, represented by the Iran-backed Houthi militia. They described this group as a genuine threat, aiming to plunge the nation back into ignorance, poverty, and injustice while fostering sectarian and regional conflicts that could tear apart the social fabric of the Yemeni people.
They reiterated that the Houthi militia would not change its terrorist behavior or its threats to international navigation in the Red Sea without military intervention. The leaders assured the audience that the armed forces remain highly prepared to protect the republic and the achievements of the revolution.
Honoring the Heroes of the Revolution
Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Bakri, Deputy Director of the Air and Air Defense College, along with the leader of the Resistance of the Aden Region in Marib and Abin Governorate Deputy Abdulaziz Al-Hamza, recounted the heroic roles and sacrifices made by freedom fighters during the revolution. They highlighted how these brave individuals etched remarkable tales of courage and sacrifice with their blood, ultimately leading to the great victory.
They stressed that the bravery and sacrifices of the martyrs, including the prominent leader of the October 14 Revolution, Rajeh bin Ghaleb Labouza, will forever serve as a guiding light for the free people of Yemen, inspiring them to defend the republic and unity against remnants of Imamate and colonial forces across the country.
Women’s Role in the Revolution
Duaa Suwan delivered a speech representing women, emphasizing the significance of the October 14 Revolution in the lives of Yemenis. She outlined the achievements and progress it brought, transitioning the nation from eras of darkness and oppression to realms of justice, freedom, and advancement.
Artistic Performances Enrich the Celebration
