A citizen was killed and another injured on Tuesday evening in a tribal armed conflict stemming from a dispute over an artesian well water project in the Houth district of Amran Governorate, according to local sources.
Dispute Escalates Among Families
Sources report that tensions had been brewing for the past two days between two families from the Al-Qas tribe in the Al-Asaimat area. The disagreement centered around the artesian water project. Notably, the Houthi authorities did not intervene to resolve the issue or prevent its escalation.
Armed Attack Leads to Casualties
The conflict escalated on Tuesday evening when armed individuals from the Dhuh Mqit Al-Qas family attacked the opposing side, unleashing a barrage of gunfire. This violent confrontation resulted in the death of Mohammed Ahmed Ali Al-Qas and left Ali Saleh Al-Qas injured.
Rising Tribal Conflicts in Amran
Amran Governorate, currently under Houthi control, has witnessed a surge in tribal conflicts related to land and water projects. Over the past few years, these disputes have led to numerous fatalities and injuries.
