Unknown Fate of Yemeni Citizen Abducted in Aden
A Yemeni human rights advocate has reported that the fate of a citizen from Ibb Governorate remains unknown nearly nine years after his abduction in Aden, the temporary capital, by forces affiliated with the now-defunct Transitional Council.
Details of the Abduction
Huda Al-Sarari, the head of the Defense Foundation for Rights and Freedoms, stated that Fawzi Ahmed Abdu Mahdi, from the Habish District in Ibb, was kidnapped in 2017. At the time, he was in the Mansoura District of Aden, where he lived and operated a supermarket.
Al-Sarari shared on the social media platform X that Mahdi was taken while he was refueling his Suzuki vehicle. Sources close to him later confirmed that the vehicle was spotted in the possession of individuals linked to the Transitional Council.
Ongoing Family Struggles
Since Mahdi’s disappearance, his family has endured continuous suffering. His wife and children were forced to leave Aden after exhausting all efforts to locate him without success.
Call for Accountability
Human rights organizations are demanding transparency regarding the fate of the abducted and the forcibly disappeared. They are also calling for accountability for those involved in these violations, which infringe upon human rights and the dignity of citizens.
The situation highlights the urgent need for action to protect individuals and uphold their rights in Yemen.
