Recent reports from the provinces of Marib, Dhala, and Taiz reveal a series of tragic incidents involving a child fatality and injuries to multiple individuals. These events stem from the explosion of unexploded ordnance left by the Houthi militia, as well as direct shelling targeting populated areas.
On August 27, a child lost her life due to severe injuries sustained from an explosion in the Al-Wadi district of Marib. The Security Media Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, reported that the child was playing with unexploded ordnance alongside other children when the incident occurred. Despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries in the intensive care unit the following day. Two other children and a woman also received treatment for their injuries.
In Dhala province, an 8-year-old boy suffered injuries from shrapnel caused by a Houthi shell. The incident took place in the Al-Azariq district, and the child was promptly transported to a local hospital for necessary medical care.
In Taiz, local sources reported that 10-year-old Hamdi Barhan Abdullah sustained an injury to his left hand from shrapnel during a Houthi attack on the July 7 neighborhood, located north of the city. This incident is part of ongoing assaults by the Houthi militia targeting residential areas and civilian structures.
These incidents highlight the ongoing dangers faced by civilians in Yemen, particularly children, due to the remnants of conflict and continued military actions.
