Our country receives a Qatabanian artifact dating back to 100 BC.

The Yemeni Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Dr. Yasin Saeed Noman, received a significant ancient artifact today. This piece, dating back to 100 BC, comes from the Qataban civilization and was handed over by Heven Griffiths.
Background of the Artifact
According to a statement from the Yemeni Embassy, the artifact belonged to Heven Griffiths, who currently resides in Australia but was born in Aden. The piece originally belonged to his father, Dr. Gareth Griffiths, a British Royal Air Force officer stationed in the Beihan Emirate. Dr. Gareth received the artifact as a gift from a relative of the Beihan ruler after he treated the individual for an illness, as detailed in his correspondence with the embassy.
Efforts to Recover Yemeni Heritage
The embassy emphasized that this handover is part of ongoing efforts to recover Yemen’s historical artifacts. They praised Heven Griffiths for his initiative in returning the artifact following the embassy’s appeals regarding the preservation of Yemeni heritage.
Coordination with Government Ministries
Furthermore, the embassy has informed the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Information, Culture, and Tourism about the arrangements for receiving the artifact. This coordination highlights the importance of restoring Yemen’s cultural treasures and ensuring their protection for future generations.
This event marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to reclaim Yemen’s rich historical legacy.
