Selection Process and Competition Details

Sheikh Hassan Al-Sheikh, the Undersecretary of the Quran Memorization Sector, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the qualification of these memorizers followed preliminary rounds held in the liberated governorates. This was followed by a central competition that took place in Aden last Wednesday and Thursday, featuring 85 participants who advanced from the initial rounds.

Categories and Competitive Spirit

The participants competed across various categories, including different styles of recitation, memorization for both adults and children, as well as recitation and adhan (call to prayer). Sheikh Al-Sheikh noted the intense competition during the preliminary stages, which led to the grand event “Iqra’ wa Ratil.” This major competition will be broadcast during the holy month of Ramadan on various television channels.

The winners of this final competition will earn the honor of representing Yemen in international contests focused on Quran memorization and recitation. Sheikh Al-Sheikh praised the leadership of the ministry for their significant support of this competition and acknowledged the efforts of the committees that contributed to its success, leading to the grand finale.

This event not only highlights the dedication of the participants but also underscores the importance of preserving and promoting Quranic teachings in Yemen.
