The meeting included members Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, Othman Majali, and Faraj Al-Bahsani, while Tarek Saleh and Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami participated via video conference. Members Aidroos Al-Zubaidi and Sultan Al-Aradah were absent with valid excuses.

Discussion on Political and Economic Developments

The council dedicated the meeting to discussing the latest political, economic, and humanitarian developments, which have worsened due to Houthi militia attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes, backed by the Iranian regime.

At the start of the meeting, the council reviewed the government’s plan and its executive framework aimed at economic recovery. This plan addresses fluctuations in the national currency and essential goods prices, enhances protection for vulnerable social groups, and improves the state’s access to its sovereign resources. The council emphasized the need to meet obligatory commitments and implement comprehensive reforms supported by regional and international partners.

Approval of Economic Recovery Plan

The council approved the economic recovery plan and directed immediate implementation in accordance with constitutional and legal references. They considered feedback from the economic team and aligned their strategies with donor community standards. The focus remains on managing the public budget deficit, strengthening the national currency, and controlling inflation in essential goods and services.

The council acknowledged the severe humanitarian crisis caused by the Houthi militia and expressed understanding of the public’s legitimate demands for better living conditions and services.

Acknowledgment of Regional Support

The Presidential Leadership Council expressed deep appreciation for the support from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates towards the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership. They highlighted Saudi Arabia’s announcement of a new deposit to the Central Bank and additional financial assistance for the state budget. Furthermore, they praised ongoing arrangements led by the United Kingdom to hold an international donor conference.

Focus on Development and Governance

The council reviewed reports on the implementation of its comprehensive strategy to address upcoming challenges, prioritizing development, urgent economic and service-related measures, and restoring state institutions. They committed to advancing financial and administrative reforms while combating corruption and promoting principles of integrity, transparency, and governance.

Updates on Al-Mahra Province

The council also discussed the situation in Al-Mahra province and the proposed actions to meet urgent demands. They commended the positive stance of local authorities and national components in Al-Mahra regarding the announced plan to normalize conditions and respond to the legitimate demands of its residents. The council expressed confidence that this plan would lead to the resolution of tensions and protests, initiating comprehensive reforms to restore the province’s role as a driver of development, stability, and peace.

Initiatives for Infrastructure and Services

The council directed the government to oversee and coordinate necessary studies for establishing new power stations and improving healthcare services in Al-Mahra. They aim to utilize revenues from stored crude oil and diesel surplus from Petro-Masila.

Moreover, the council confirmed the state’s commitment to integrating Al-Mahra residents into the armed forces and security services, adhering to legal recruitment standards. They intend to mobilize resources for the province’s development and ensure fair representation in state structures and future political entitlements.

Media Strategy and Local Conditions

The meeting also reviewed a proposal from the Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, along with media officials from the council’s components. The proposal focused on the media’s direction and messaging to align with current local, regional, and international developments. The council approved the proposal and established a committee to support the media front in line with the council’s objectives and national priorities.

Addressing Human Rights Violations

Additionally, the council addressed the situation in Al-Bayda province, discussing interventions needed to counter Houthi terrorism and severe human rights violations in the “Hankat Al-Masoud” village. These violations include attacks on civilian homes and a blockade preventing residents from accessing medical services and food supplies for the second consecutive week.

The council urged the government to provide urgent aid to affected families, support all forms of resistance against the Houthi agenda, and take necessary measures to protect human rights in coordination with regional and international partners.

This meeting underscores the Presidential Leadership Council’s commitment to addressing pressing issues in Yemen while seeking support from the international community.
