Minister of Interior Highlights the Significance of the October 14 Revolution
The Minister of Interior, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, emphasized that the 63rd anniversary of the glorious October 14 Revolution arrives while Yemen reflects on a significant chapter in its national history. This moment allows the country to recall the struggle for freedom, sovereignty, and independence shaped by the sacrifices of generations.
A Unified Struggle for Freedom
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) on the occasion of the 63rd National Day of the October 14 Revolution, Major General Haidan remarked, “Yemeni revolutions were not separate events; they represent interconnected phases in a single national battle. This journey began with the overthrow of the Imamate regime during the September 26 Revolution in 1962, continued with the fight against British colonialism in the October 14 Revolution of 1963, and culminated in achieving national independence on November 30, 1967.”
The Legacy of the Revolutions
Major General Haidan added, “The September 26 Revolution paved the way for the establishment of the republican system and embodied the Yemeni people’s rejection of tyranny and the Imamate rule. Meanwhile, the October 14 Revolution expressed the people’s will to liberate themselves from occupation and assert their national decision, leading to independence. This independence confirmed that the will of the people cannot be subdued when they unite around their goals.”
Current Challenges Facing Yemen
The Minister of Interior pointed out that the September, October, and November revolutions represent a unified national path aimed at liberating both the people and the land, safeguarding national decisions, and building a free and independent Yemen. He highlighted the significant national challenge Yemen faces today due to Iranian interference, which supports the Houthi terrorist militias, undermines state institutions, and seeks to impose external influence over Yemen.
A Call to Action for the Current Generation
Major General Haidan stated, “The current generation must continue the path of national liberation, confront the Iranian project and its militias, end the coup, restore state institutions, and reinforce sovereignty. This ensures the independence of national decisions and the Yemeni people’s right to determine their destiny, free from any external guardianship or dominance.”
The Importance of the “Dawn of Yemen” Operation
The Minister of Interior affirmed that the “Dawn of Yemen” operation represents a contemporary extension of the national struggle and a pivotal moment in the fight to restore the republic and end the coup. This operation aligns with the objectives of the September 26 and October 14 revolutions in defending the republican system, freedom, and independence.
Ensuring a Free Future for Yemen
He explained that the significance of this battle extends beyond restoring state institutions; it encompasses the future of Yemen, the freedom of its people, and the independence of their national decisions. The right of future generations to live in a free land that safeguards its sovereignty must remain paramount, allowing its citizens to determine their fate.
Acknowledging the Efforts of the Armed Forces
The Minister of Interior praised the heroes of the armed forces, security, and popular resistance, commending their bravery and sacrifices in defending the republic and protecting the homeland. He also acknowledged the continuous Saudi support for the Yemeni people across military, security, humanitarian, economic, and developmental fields, reinforcing the government’s efforts to safeguard Yemen and enhance its security and stability.
Unity as a Path to Victory
In conclusion, Major General Haidan stressed that the most significant lesson from the September 26 and October 14 revolutions is that victory comes through unity and prioritizing national interests above all else. He asserted that addressing current challenges requires the integration of the armed forces, security, and national resistance, as well as the cohesion of national forces, while rejecting divisions that benefit the Houthi militias and their supporters.
