Saudi Arabia’s Airports Targeted in Attacks

The General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia announced that on Tuesday and Wednesday, Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport experienced attacks targeting their facilities.

Emergency Response Initiated

In a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the authority reported, “Emergency teams and relevant authorities began responding to the attacks immediately after they occurred, following established procedures and plans.”

Casualties and Injuries Reported

The statement detailed that the attack on Abha International Airport resulted in the deaths of two residents, one from Morocco and the other from Algeria. Additionally, the attack caused injuries to 28 individuals, including citizens and residents from Bangladesh and the Philippines, with injuries ranging from minor to severe.

King Khalid International Airport Incident

The attack on King Khalid International Airport led to the death of a Sudanese resident and resulted in eight injuries. Among the injured were five citizens, two residents from Egypt, and one resident from Pakistan, with their injuries also varying from minor to severe.

Medical Assistance Provided

All injured individuals received immediate transport to hospitals for necessary medical care. The attacks also caused some material damage. The authority confirmed that it is working in close coordination with relevant security agencies to assess the damage and implement all necessary measures to ensure the safety of travelers and staff, as well as to maintain the security and safety of the civil aviation system in the Kingdom.
