Assistant Governor Opens Dan Hadrami Exhibition in Sayun
Assistant Governor of Hadramout for Valley and Desert Affairs, Abdulhadi Al-Tamimi, inaugurated the Dan Hadrami photo exhibition today in Sayun. The event, organized by the Culture Office, celebrates the Yemeni Revolution anniversaries and coincides with the registration of Dan Hadrami as part of UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage.
Exhibition Features Cultural Heritage
Al-Tamimi, accompanied by Culture Office Director Ahmed Bin Dwaist, toured the exhibition held at the Ali Bakathir Hall. The exhibition showcased 60 documentary photographs of poets and singers from the Dan tradition in the Valley and Desert of Hadramout. Additionally, it featured publications and works related to Dan and its cultural heritage.
Importance of Cultural Documentation
The assistant governor emphasized the significance of documenting Hadrami cultural and artistic heritage. He highlighted the need to preserve its elements and pass them on to future generations. Al-Tamimi praised the efforts made in preparing the Dan Hadrami file and its inclusion in UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.
Poetry Session and Recognition
The event included a morning poetry session featuring poets Khalid Baharitha, Taha Bahamid, Amira Al-Amri, and Fatima Mudaaf. They presented poetic works related to Hadrami heritage. At the conclusion of the event, organizers honored contributors to the Dan Hadrami file, along with the participating poets.
