Prime Minister Reviews Houthi Escalation with Deputy Speaker of Parliament
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Dr. Sha’if Mohsen Al-Zandani met in the temporary capital of Aden with Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohammed Al-Shadadi. They discussed the serious military escalation led by the Houthi terrorist militia. The meeting focused on coordinating efforts between the executive and legislative branches to unify the national stance and strengthen state institutions in response to current developments.
Discussing Houthi Violations and Humanitarian Support
The meeting addressed the Houthi violations against civilians and displaced persons. The officials emphasized the need to convey the truth about these violations to the international community and hold it accountable for these crimes. They also prioritized supporting the frontlines, caring for the displaced and affected individuals, and enhancing stability in liberated areas. These efforts aim to restore initiative and assert state authority across all Yemeni territories.
Houthi Threats to National and Regional Security
Prime Minister Al-Zandani stressed that the Houthi escalation has evolved beyond an internal military issue. He described it as a comprehensive threat to national and regional security, particularly due to systematic Iranian support for the militia. This support has transformed Yemeni land and waters into a platform for threatening regional security and international interests.
Regional Implications of Houthi Attacks
The Prime Minister highlighted the repeated terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia using missiles and drones. These attacks target civilian sites and vital installations. He noted that these actions cannot be separated from the military escalation on the western coast, as they form part of an Iranian-backed destructive project that threatens not only the Yemeni people but also the security of neighboring countries and regional and international interests.
Call for National Cohesion
Al-Zandani affirmed that the current phase requires the highest levels of national cohesion and the integration of state institutions’ roles. He urged against allowing the Houthi militia and its regional supporters to impose new realities at the expense of Yemen and the region’s security and stability.
Legislative Support for Government Efforts
For his part, Deputy Speaker Al-Shadadi confirmed the legislative institution’s support for the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, and the armed forces. He emphasized the importance of national unity and the integration of state institutions’ efforts to confront the current challenges.
