Strengthening Humanitarian Law and Civilian Protection

On Monday, June 15, 2026, Major General Dr. Qaid Atef Saleh, the Deputy Minister of Interior for Human Resources and Finance, met with representatives from the Geneva Call organization. They discussed a joint rehabilitation program aimed at enhancing the application of international humanitarian law, human rights, and civilian protection in conflict zones. This initiative aligns with the efforts of civil society organizations and the Ministry of Interior.

Developing Training and Rehabilitation Programs

During the meeting, which included Brigadier Osama Bahamish, Director General of Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, participants focused on improving training and rehabilitation programs for ministry personnel. These programs aim to enhance the skills of staff in civilian protection, facilitate humanitarian aid delivery, and ensure safe access in accordance with international humanitarian standards.

Integrating Modern Technologies into Training

The two sides also explored the proposal to incorporate modern programs into future rehabilitation plans, including cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. These initiatives will help the ministry keep pace with technological advancements and improve institutional performance in security and administrative work.

Major General Dr. Qaid Atef Saleh emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with international humanitarian organizations, particularly Geneva Call. This organization plays a vital role in promoting the culture of international humanitarian law and reinforcing human rights principles within security environments.
