International Organization for Migration Reports Displacement of 90 Individuals in Yemen

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported the displacement of 90 individuals over the past week, shedding light on the persistent displacement crisis affecting various provinces in Yemen.

Recent Displacement Data

In its latest findings, the IOM documented the movement of 15 families, totaling 90 people, between May 17 and May 23, 2026. This data serves to illustrate the continuing humanitarian crisis faced by many communities across Yemen.

Breakdown of Displacement by Region

The report reveals that 53% of the new displacement cases occurred in Marib Governorate, which involved eight families. Moreover, four families were displaced from Shabwa, while three families originated from the districts of Al Hudaydah, contributing to the overall figures.

Notably, the IOM reported a significant decrease in overall displacement cases, with a reduction of approximately 78% compared to the previous week. In the preceding week, 68 families, comprising 408 individuals, faced displacement. Additionally, the report identified 19 additional displaced families not included in the prior week’s data, which have now been incorporated into the cumulative total.

As of May 23, 2026, the total number of registered displacement cases since the beginning of the year has reached 1,065 families, accounting for 6,390 individuals. This alarming statistic highlights the ongoing challenges that continue to impact the lives of many in Yemen.
