EU Support for Yemen: A Vital Lifeline

Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, the Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament, commended the European Union (EU) for its humanitarian and developmental interventions in Yemen. He noted the EU’s critical support for displaced individuals and essential sectors, including water, health, and education. Al-Barakani stressed the importance of sustaining this support in light of the escalating challenges faced by the nation.

Appreciation for Field Visit

In a phone conversation with Patrick Simonnet, the EU Ambassador to Yemen, Al-Barakani expressed his gratitude for the ambassador’s recent field visit to Taiz and various districts within the province. This visit aimed to assess the prevailing conditions, historical landmarks, and the existing humanitarian and developmental needs in the area.

Strengthening International Partnerships

Al-Barakani highlighted the significance of Ambassador Simonnet’s visit in bolstering the presence of international partners in Yemen. He noted that the ambassador’s firsthand observations of the humanitarian and developmental challenges in Taiz would facilitate improved collaboration.
