In a significant move to enhance air travel and boost the local economy, Governor Salem Al-Khanbashi visited Al-Riyan International Airport in Mukalla today. His inspection focused on the airport’s technical readiness as efforts intensify to resume flights to and from the facility. During his visit, Governor Al-Khanbashi received a detailed briefing from Hussein Bin Barik, the manager of Yemen Airlines at Al-Riyan International Airport. Bin Barik outlined the ongoing efforts to reinstate flight operations. He highlighted the recovery of essential equipment, including navigational devices, which had been previously stolen. Additionally, he discussed the technical requirements needed to complete preparations for the airport’s operational restart.

Customs Preparations for Air Cargo

Governor Al-Khanbashi also met with Omar Abdulrahman Ba’ayis, the Director General of the Hadhramaut Coast Customs Authority. Ba’ayis provided insights into the customs team’s readiness at Al-Riyan International Airport for the upcoming import and export activities. He assured that the administrative and technical frameworks are in place to facilitate customs procedures in accordance with existing regulations.
