President Alimi Meets with Parliamentary Leaders to Discuss National Developments
On Thursday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and council members Mohammed Al-Shadadi and Mohsen Basra. The meeting focused on recent national developments, particularly in the eastern provinces, and strategies to address their political, economic, and service-related impacts.
Efforts to Normalize Conditions in Eastern Provinces
During the meeting, President Alimi highlighted the initiatives led by the Saudi and Emirati-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy. These efforts aim to de-escalate tensions and restore normalcy in the provinces of Hadramout and Al-Mahra. He praised Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in facilitating a ceasefire, which includes the withdrawal of incoming forces and empowering local residents to manage their affairs.
Prioritizing State Restoration and National Consensus
President Alimi informed the parliamentary leadership about the outcomes of local, regional, and international communications aimed at containing tensions and safeguarding national consensus. He emphasized that the primary focus remains on restoring state institutions and ending the Houthi militia’s coup, which is backed by the Iranian regime.
Support for National Consensus and Legislative Integrity
The President commended the House of Representatives for its firm stance against any unilateral actions or military movements outside the framework of national consensus and transitional governance principles. These principles include the transfer of power declaration and the Riyadh Agreement.
Commitment to the Southern Issue as a National Cause
President Alimi reiterated the state’s unwavering position on the Southern issue, recognizing it as a legitimate national concern. He stressed that it forms an integral part of any comprehensive political solution, which must address past grievances and embrace all options determined by the will of the people.
Support from the United Nations
The meeting welcomed statements from United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who expressed support for de-escalation efforts. Guterres emphasized the state’s exclusive authority to enforce the rule of law and warned of the risks posed by rising tensions to public safety, civil peace, and regional security.
