Prime Minister Issues Final Opportunity for Non-Compliant Investors

In a decisive move to enhance land management and investment in Yemen, Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Brek has directed the General Authority for Land, Survey, and Urban Planning to grant a final opportunity to investors who have failed to fulfill their commitments on allocated lands. If these investors do not comply, the government will initiate legal actions to cancel contracts and reclaim the lands for serious developmental projects.

Addressing Land Mismanagement

During a meeting on Thursday in the temporary capital of Aden, Prime Minister bin Brek emphasized the importance of identifying illegal activities and mismanagement of state lands. He highlighted the authority’s constitutional responsibility to protect state property from encroachment and misuse. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s support for the authority’s leadership in safeguarding state lands and collaborating with relevant entities to promote genuine investments.

Local Authorities Urged to Comply with Regulations

The Prime Minister also urged local authorities to adhere strictly to existing laws and regulations regarding state lands. He stressed that any actions concerning these lands must occur under the supervision of the General Authority for Land. Local authorities must actively prevent any illegal activities or encroachments on state property.

Commendation for Administrative Reforms

Prime Minister bin Brek praised the administrative and technical reforms led by the authority’s president, Salem Al-Aulqi. These reforms aim to streamline land management, establish policies, secure state ownership, allocate lands, and develop databases and investment regulations. He warned that the government would not tolerate any manipulation or theft of state lands or citizens’ properties, promising accountability for those involved in such activities.

Updates on Authority’s Progress

The Prime Minister received updates from Al-Aulqi regarding the authority’s operations and its priorities for improving performance and institutional development. The authority is actively addressing land issues and tackling encroachments on state lands and government plans in coordination with judicial authorities.

Commitment to Transparency and Anti-Corruption

Al-Aulqi expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s engagement with the authority’s plans and programs. He reiterated the commitment to implementing the Prime Minister’s directives while enhancing transparency, performance oversight, and anti-corruption measures within the authority and its branches.

This initiative marks a significant step towards ensuring responsible land use and fostering a conducive environment for serious investments in Yemen.
