Minister Calls for Collaboration to Regulate Prices

Industry and Trade Minister Urges Action

Minister of Industry and Trade, Mohammed Al-Ashwal, has called on all official and community entities to collaborate closely with the ministry’s inspection committees. This initiative aims to ensure that traders adhere to actual pricing, especially following the recent appreciation of the Yemeni rial against the dollar.

Field Teams to Monitor Market Compliance

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Al-Ashwal explained that the ministry has directed its offices to form field teams. These teams will visit markets and retail outlets based on instructions from the Prime Minister. Their goal is to regulate prices and ensure that traders respond responsibly to economic changes.

Suppliers Urged to Maintain Fair Pricing

The minister emphasized the importance of suppliers and major stakeholders committing to fair pricing. He warned that the ministry would take strict measures against those who manipulate prices, including revoking business licenses and publishing blacklists of offenders.

Government’s Economic Recovery Plan Continues

Al-Ashwal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the economic recovery plan approved by the Presidential Leadership Council. This plan focuses on regulating import invoices and strengthening partnerships with the Central Bank, as well as the commercial and banking sectors.

Coordination is Key for Success

The minister highlighted the necessity of coordination among regulatory committees, local authorities, security agencies, and the media to ensure the success of this campaign. He pointed out that violators must be referred to the appropriate judicial authorities.

By fostering collaboration and enforcing regulations, the government aims to stabilize the market and protect consumers during this critical economic period.
