Focus on Security and Stability
The meeting primarily focused on reviewing security and military performance reports, as well as efforts to enhance security and stability in the temporary capital of Aden and other provinces. The committee highlighted significant achievements in combating terrorism, including the dismantling of several cells linked to the Houthi militias and other terrorist organizations.
Acknowledgment of Efforts in Taiz
The High Security Committee expressed its appreciation for the ongoing security and military campaign in Taiz. This campaign successfully dismantled one of the most dangerous terrorist cells associated with the Houthi militias, Al-Qaeda, and ISIS, which had been involved in various acts of sabotage and assassinations across several provinces.
Intelligence Operations Yield Results
The committee praised the continuous intelligence monitoring under the direct supervision of President Alimi. This oversight led to the discovery of a terrorist network managed by Amjad Khaled, a former brigade commander, who had direct ties to Houthi leaders, including Mohammed Abdul Karim Al-Ghamari and Abdul Qadir Al-Shami. These individuals are known for orchestrating terrorist operations in liberated provinces and coordinating with Houthi militias.
Criminal Activities Uncovered
Confessions from detained suspects revealed the network’s involvement in heinous crimes, including the assassination of the World Food Program director in Al-Turbah, Moayed Hamidi. This incident aimed to undermine the government’s efforts to build trust with international organizations and secure humanitarian activities in liberated provinces.
Ongoing Investigations
Reports indicated that authorities arrested several individuals involved in the assassination, including the main perpetrators and numerous others linked to various killings and bombings. Investigations also confirmed the network’s involvement in the October 2021 bombing of Aden Governor Ahmed Hamed Lamlas’s convoy, which resulted in the deaths of several of his aides.
Discovery of Explosive Manufacturing Facilities
The campaign uncovered facilities for manufacturing explosives and preparing car bombs. Authorities seized various explosive devices and mines from residential areas linked to the terrorist group in Al-Shamayatin District. The group also used visual documentation for assassination operations and communicated sensitive security information to the Houthi enemy as part of a broader plan to destabilize cities and provinces.
Community Support and Vigilance
The High Security Committee commended the role of the Governor of Taiz, the Commander of the Al-Baitha Axis, and all relevant agencies that contributed to the success of the joint security and military campaign. The committee also recognized the citizens’ awareness and support, which reflected the national spirit of the free people of Taiz, who consistently demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding the state and its republican system.
Warning Against Terrorist Collaboration
The committee warned against any dealings, concealment, or leniency towards terrorist elements under any pretext. It emphasized the need to strengthen national unity and maintain high levels of vigilance and readiness to counter the Houthi plot aimed at plunging the country into further chaos and destruction, supported by the Iranian regime.
Commitment to National Security
The committee reaffirmed the state’s readiness to deter terrorist threats, protect public safety, and pursue fugitives from justice. It aims to end the Houthi militias’ crimes against Yemenis and dismantle their divisive agenda.
Strategic Decisions Made
During the meeting, the committee made several decisions to pursue and apprehend wanted individuals. It will communicate with friendly nations and Interpol to facilitate their extradition for trial in Yemen. The committee also directed actions based on the reports to address dormant and suspicious cells across various provinces.
Strengthening Anti-Drug Efforts
The committee approved support for the General Administration for Drug Control and emphasized the importance of educational, cultural, and media platforms to protect future generations from extremist ideologies. It aims to expose Houthi plots and terrorist organizations that threaten the interests of the Yemeni people and undermine their Arab identity.
The meeting concluded with the presence of Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.
