Yemen Wins First Place at International Quran Memorization Competition
The Republic of Yemen achieved a remarkable milestone by securing first place in the 21st International Quran Memorization Competition held in Algeria. Abdulrahman Mohammed, representing the Ministry of Awqaf and Guidance, outperformed competitors from over 50 countries.

Dr. Mohammed Shabeeb, the Minister of Awqaf and Guidance, congratulated Abdulrahman Mohammed on this significant Quranic achievement. He emphasized that Yemen’s recognition in one of the most prestigious global Quranic events reflects the government’s commitment to supporting Quran memorization and promoting international participation.
Preliminary and Final Rounds
Abdulrahman underwent an initial remote assessment organized by the competition committee at the Algerian embassy in Doha. His successful performance led him to the final round, where he ultimately claimed the top prize.

This victory highlights the strong presence of Yemeni Quran memorizers in international competitions. It also underscores the effectiveness of the programs managed by the Ministry of Awqaf, which nurture and support Quran memorization. Abdulrahman received accolades from Algeria’s Prime Minister Safi Gharib and the Minister of Religious Affairs and Awqaf. The ceremony took place in the presence of Yemen’s Chargé d’Affaires in Algeria, Ambassador Nabil Abdulqader, along with several members of the Arab and Islamic diplomatic corps.
