In a significant move to enhance the quality and competitiveness of local products on the global stage, the Hadhramaut Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized an informative workshop in Sayun. The event, focused on international standards and quality certification (ISO), aimed to equip local exporters with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve and develop their products.
The workshop targeted members of the Chamber, primarily local exporters, providing them with a deeper understanding of quality systems, the importance of ISO certification, global specifications, quality policies, principles, process management under the quality system, and the role of ISO in market expansion. This initiative underscores a strategic effort to align local products with international standards, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in global markets.
Taha Al-Saqaf, the Deputy Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Valley and the Desert, highlighted the workshop’s critical role in building the capacity and skills of Chamber members. He emphasized the importance of meeting international standards to compete effectively in global markets. Al-Saqaf also reassured that the Chamber would provide all necessary support to ensure local products can stand toe-to-toe with international exports, contributing to the nation’s economic growth.
Engineer Hassan Batahir, the General Manager of the Chamber, shed light on the Chamber and its Board’s role in enhancing the capabilities, skills, and knowledge of its members across various commercial fields. He pointed out that this is achieved through training and qualification courses. The workshop was enriched with discussions and inquiries about the comprehensive process of quality assurance, including laboratory testing, storage sites, and more, indicating a keen interest in adopting best practices for quality improvement.
This workshop represents a pivotal step towards integrating local products into the global market by adhering to international standards and obtaining quality certifications. By focusing on quality and competitiveness, Hadhramaut is poised to make significant contributions to the national economy through its export sector.
