U.S. Expands Sanctions on 35 Entities and Individuals Linked to Iran

U.S. Intensifies Pressure on Iran with New Sanctions

The United States government is amplifying its efforts to exert maximum pressure on the Iranian regime, as stated by State Department spokesperson Tommy Bigot. This initiative aims to hold Tehran accountable for its actions and to mitigate the threats it poses to U.S. interests in the region. Bigot emphasized that the United States is specifically targeting the financial networks that Iran relies upon to support its activities.

New Measures Against Iranian Financial Networks

In a recent post on X, Bigot provided details regarding the implementation of new sanctions against 35 entities and individuals linked to a clandestine financial network that supports Iran. This action is part of a comprehensive campaign aimed at cutting off the funding sources that Tehran utilizes to bolster its regional activities. The United States seeks to deprive Iran of the financial resources that enhance its power and influence across the Middle East.

Warnings of Additional Sanctions and Broader U.S. Policy

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) within the U.S. Treasury Department has issued a caution that any company paying “transit” fees to the Iranian government or the Revolutionary Guard for passage through the Strait of Hormuz will face severe penalties. These measures are intended to reduce the revenue Iran generates from international shipping, thereby diminishing its regional influence.

These recent actions are part of a broader U.S. policy aimed at countering Iran’s financial and logistical networks. As regional tensions continue to escalate, concerns regarding the expansion of Tehran’s activities grow. Consequently, the United States remains committed to taking effective steps to prevent Iran from enhancing its malign influence and threatening security and stability in the region.
