The United Nations signs a partnership agreement to address challenges faced by displaced individuals.

United Nations Partners with HSA Foundation to Support Displaced Yemenis

The United Nations in Yemen has signed a partnership agreement with the Humanitarian Development Program, a project of the HSA Foundation. This initiative aims to address the challenges faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) and support early recovery efforts for vulnerable communities across Yemen.

Objectives of the Partnership

The partnership seeks to advocate for resources, share data, and implement targeted interventions. These efforts align with national and international frameworks, including the Humanitarian Response Plan and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.

Focus Areas of the Initiative

This collaboration will prioritize enhancing livelihoods, economic empowerment, and social stability. Special attention will go to vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and marginalized communities. The partnership will work closely with Yemeni government entities to ensure alignment with national and local priorities.

Commitment to Resilience and Community Rebuilding

This partnership symbolizes a shared commitment to strengthen resilience and rebuild the fabric of Yemeni society through coordinated humanitarian and developmental efforts.

The Situation of Internally Displaced Persons

Julian Harness, the UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, highlighted that IDPs constitute over 25% of the population in need, amounting to approximately 4.8 million people, the majority of whom are women and children. He emphasized that these individuals endure unimaginable conditions and struggle daily to meet their basic needs.

Strategic Importance of the Partnership

Harness noted that this strategic partnership represents a critical step toward finding lasting solutions to internal displacement. By leveraging the capabilities of the Yemeni private sector and utilizing the deep interventions of the Humanitarian Development Program, the initiative aims to create innovative, community-led solutions. These efforts will support displaced Yemenis and marginalized communities, paving the way for an inclusive and sustainable future.

Commitment from HSA Foundation

Mohammed Abdul-Wasi Hail, Managing Director of the HSA Foundation, reaffirmed the joint commitment to Yemen’s recovery. He stated that this partnership with the UN marks a significant step toward achieving sustainable development and dignity for all Yemenis, particularly those who have suffered from displacement and systemic vulnerability.

This partnership represents a hopeful stride toward addressing the urgent needs of the Yemeni people and fostering a resilient society.
