Minister of Transport Lays Foundation for New Maintenance and Engineering Center at Aden International Airport

On the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the October 14 Revolution, Dr. Abdul Salam Humeid, Yemen’s Minister of Transport, alongside Captain Nasser Mahmoud Mohammed, Chairman of Yemenia Airlines, laid the foundation stone for a new regional maintenance and engineering center at Aden International Airport. This project marks a significant step forward for the national airline.

Enhancing Maintenance Capabilities

During the ceremony, Minister Humeid emphasized that the new maintenance center will meet regional standards and accommodate all aircraft sizes. He stated that this facility will substantially reduce Yemenia Airlines’ maintenance costs, which currently amount to millions of dollars annually spent on overseas services. Furthermore, the center aims to provide comprehensive engineering and technical services for both local and foreign airlines operating at Aden International Airport.

Tour of Facilities

Following the foundation-laying ceremony, Minister Humeid, along with several officials from Aden Airport and Yemenia Airlines, toured the hangar workshops and equipment sections. They received detailed briefings from staff regarding the maintenance operations and spare parts management within the hangar.

This initiative not only represents a vital investment in Yemen’s aviation infrastructure but also underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its national airline. As the project progresses, it is expected to create jobs and improve service quality for travelers and airlines alike.
