The Sudanese Army announced that it successfully thwarted an attack launched by a coalition of Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) led by Joseph Toka. This incident occurred in the Al-Baraka area of the Kurmuk locality in the Blue Nile region. The army confirmed that it destroyed vehicles and equipment, forcing the attacking forces to retreat.
The Fourth Infantry Division in the Blue Nile region issued a statement detailing the military operation conducted in Al-Baraka. During this operation, army forces and supporting troops effectively countered the coalition’s movements and disrupted their attempt to advance toward the armed forces’ positions.
The statement indicated that the operation resulted in the destruction of several vehicles and equipment. Additionally, the attacking forces suffered casualties in both personnel and equipment, compelling them to withdraw under the pressure of fire.
The Fourth Infantry Division emphasized the readiness of the armed forces to respond to any movements targeting their positions or threatening the safety of citizens and their property.
Since April 2023, Sudan has experienced ongoing clashes between the Sudanese Army and Rapid Support Forces in various regions of the country. Efforts at the regional and international levels to achieve a permanent ceasefire have faced significant challenges.
