During the meeting, which also included Aden’s Deputy Governor for Development, Adnan Al-Kaf, the officials highlighted the unit’s significant accomplishments in protecting public and private properties. They reviewed the measures implemented to regulate construction activities, aiming to restore order following the chaos and illegal encroachments that plagued Aden after the Houthi militia’s war.

Governor Sheikh praised the Land Protection Unit’s efforts in maintaining stability and protecting citizens’ rights. He emphasized the need to streamline procedures for citizens and expedite their transactions. Additionally, he stressed the importance of balancing citizen services with the enforcement of laws, promoting institutional work, and coordinating efforts among relevant authorities to strengthen the rule of law.

Revitalizing Telecommunications in Aden

In a separate discussion, Minister Sheikh met with Baher Said, the director of the Oman-Yemen United Telecommunications Company, known as “You.” They explored potential strategies to reactivate the company’s operations in the capital after a three-year hiatus.

To facilitate this process, Sheikh formed a committee comprising local authorities and relevant stakeholders. This committee will collaborate with a team from “You” to review the financial, legal, and technical aspects of the company, as well as its obligations to the government. They will compile a report to recommend appropriate actions moving forward.

Conclusion

These discussions reflect the ongoing efforts by the Aden government to enhance public services and restore stability in the region. By focusing on land protection and revitalizing telecommunications, the authorities aim to foster a more secure and efficient environment for citizens.
