In a heartfelt message, Sheikh Sultan Al-Barkani, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, extended his warm congratulations to President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi and the members of the Presidential Leadership Council. This message marks the 35th anniversary of Yemen’s National Day, celebrated on May 22.
In his message, Al-Barkani expressed, "On this glorious day, I am pleased, on behalf of myself and my fellow members of the presidency and the House of Representatives, to congratulate you and our great Yemeni people on this cherished national occasion. The 35th National Day of the Republic of Yemen symbolizes the blessed unity established on May 22, 1990. This unity served as a shield against fragmentation and division, guiding our people through the turbulent waters of oppression and colonialism."
Al-Barkani emphasized the ongoing challenges facing Yemen. He noted, "As we celebrate this anniversary, a cloud of sorrow looms over our nation. Our people endure economic, political, and social crises, exacerbated by the senseless war ignited by the Houthi militia over the past eleven years. This conflict has led to catastrophic repercussions across various aspects of life, yet the Yemeni citizen remains resilient, standing tall against tyranny and refusing to succumb to darkness and oppression."
The Speaker highlighted the significance of unity, stating, "The blessed unity represents a remarkable moment in time when the north and south came together. It embodies the aspirations of all Yemenis for a brighter future. Our people, regardless of their region, welcome this unity with celebration, as it signifies the completion of our national project and the fulfillment of our collective struggle."
Al-Barkani expressed confidence in the leadership of the Presidential Council, stating, "We trust that you and your colleagues will continue your efforts to confront the Houthi aggression and respond to calls for peace. Together, we can steer our country toward safety and maintain a strong Yemen, unshaken by external pressures. We recognize the mounting challenges that weigh heavily on our citizens, and we are committed to overcoming them."
He urged all political and social forces across the nation to rise above their differences. "Let us unite in this pivotal moment to commemorate this enduring national memory and protect it from the arrows of conspiracy and division. We must stand for Yemen, its revolution, and its republic, which broke the chains of oppression and elevated our nation’s status."
Al-Barkani concluded with a prayer for Yemen’s peace and prosperity, saying, "May God protect Yemen, a land where mountains and plains embrace, a unity that remains unbroken, and a security that envelops us all. Let us remember our martyrs and wish for the healing of the wounded."
This message serves as a reminder of the enduring spirit of the Yemeni people and their commitment to unity and resilience in the face of adversity.
