Security Committee in Socotra Takes Action to Enhance Stability

The Security Committee in Socotra Governorate convened an important meeting to address current security issues and explore ways to strengthen stability in the region. The committee decided to prohibit carrying weapons and to respond firmly to any attempts to disrupt security or disturb public peace. This decision reflects the urgent need to protect citizens and foster a secure environment in Socotra.

Enhancing Security Readiness

During the meeting, participants emphasized the necessity of improving the readiness of security forces to address violations effectively. They also highlighted the importance of taking appropriate legal actions against those responsible for such infractions. Additionally, the committee stressed the need to reduce the practice of firing weapons during celebrations, as this poses significant risks to public safety and community security.

Strengthening Collaboration Among Stakeholders

Brigadier General Saleh Al-Saqtri, the Deputy Governor of Socotra, underscored the importance of unity and collaboration among official and community efforts. He called for continued cooperation among various stakeholders to serve the interests of Socotra and its residents. Al-Saqtri also acknowledged the vital role of the local community in supporting security forces.

Shared Responsibility for Maintaining Security

The Security Committee urged local community members, including elders, leaders, and youth, to collaborate with security agencies and report any activities that threaten security and stability. The committee reiterated that maintaining security in Socotra is a shared responsibility that requires collective efforts. This call to action comes amid previous warnings about the deterioration of administrative and security conditions in the archipelago, along with local demands to address the administrative vacuum and improve service levels.
