On Friday, the Second Support and Reinforcement Brigade announced the capture of a militant cell operating in the central region of Abyan Governorate. The group attempted to leave the province for Al-Bayda to receive military training. Authorities described this as part of a sabotage plan targeting security in the liberated southern provinces.
A statement from the brigade’s leadership revealed that precise surveillance led to the arrest of the cell’s members. Initial investigations indicated that these individuals received financial support from entities in Al-Bayda. Their objective was to carry out operations aimed at civilians and critical infrastructure.
Brigadier General Mazen Al-Junaidi confirmed that the cell represents an organized network working on behalf of the Houthi group. This network recruits young people and mobilizes funds to destabilize the region. This operation is part of ongoing security efforts that have recently thwarted several similar plots in liberated areas.
The successful capture of this militant cell underscores the commitment of security forces to maintain stability in the southern provinces. Authorities continue to monitor and disrupt threats to public safety, ensuring the protection of civilians and vital facilities.
