Government Supports Youth Initiatives to Strengthen Community Values

Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Brek reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting youth-led community initiatives across various sectors. These initiatives aim to enhance solidarity within society and channel the energy of young people into serving their nation and communities. He emphasized the importance of unity, both officially and among the public, to navigate the current challenging circumstances.

Youth Initiative for Road Rehabilitation

During a meeting on Monday in the temporary capital of Aden, Prime Minister bin Brek welcomed the youth team behind the initiative to rehabilitate and restore the international Abyan road. The first phase of this project, which spans 148 kilometers from Zinjibar to Mudiya, has a budget of 1.9 million Saudi Riyals.

The youth team briefed the Prime Minister on the initiative’s details and objectives. They highlighted the significant damage to this vital international route, which has hindered traffic flow and jeopardized the safety of travelers. So far, the team has completed 46 kilometers of the first phase, focusing on the most affected section from Zinjibar to Shuqra. They are currently working to extend the project to Mudiya.

Future Phases and Funding

The youth team also outlined plans for the second phase of the project, which involves rehabilitating and restoring the Mudiya-Mahfed international road, measuring 120 kilometers. They are actively seeking funding for this phase.

In response, Prime Minister bin Brek directed the Roads Maintenance Fund and the Roads and Bridges Authority to finance and implement the second phase of the Mudiya-Mahfed rehabilitation. He praised the youth team’s efforts, describing their initiative as a vital message about the importance of collaboration and contribution to national development.

A Model for Community Engagement

The youth initiative to rehabilitate the international Abyan road serves as a commendable example of positive community engagement. Prime Minister bin Brek recognized the initiative as a shining representation of the values held by the community’s youth. He expressed his support for all volunteers who contribute to alleviating community hardships and assisting government efforts in this regard.

This initiative not only addresses immediate infrastructure needs but also fosters a spirit of cooperation and resilience among the youth, setting a precedent for future community-driven projects.
