The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praises Kuwait’s developmental and humanitarian interventions.

President Alimi Welcomes Kuwaiti Development Fund Director

On Saturday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with the Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Engineer Walid Shumlan Al-Bahr. The meeting took place in the presence of Dr. Waed Badhieb, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation.

Strengthening Financial Cooperation

During the meeting, President Alimi expressed his warm welcome to the Kuwaiti delegation. He congratulated them on the recent signing of a financial arrangement agreement between the Government of Yemen and the Kuwait Fund for Development. This agreement aims to reactivate Kuwaiti funding to support Yemen’s development plans and programs.

The President conveyed his gratitude on behalf of the Council and the government to the State of Kuwait, led by His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. He acknowledged the continuous support and facilitation provided by the Kuwaiti government and people to Yemen during various challenges.

Confidence in Future Projects

President Alimi expressed confidence that this agreement would lead to the launch of more Kuwaiti projects. He emphasized that it would alleviate Yemen’s debt burden to the Kuwait Fund for Development, especially given the current financial and economic difficulties exacerbated by Houthi militia attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes.

Commitment to Bilateral Relations

The President praised the distinguished bilateral relations between Yemen and Kuwait. He assured that the Presidential Leadership Council and the government remain committed to facilitating Kuwaiti projects and humanitarian interventions across various sectors.

Additionally, President Alimi commended the efforts of Kuwaiti financial institutions and charitable organizations in rehabilitating services and mitigating the humanitarian suffering caused by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia.

Addressing Yemen’s Priorities

The President appreciated Kuwait’s understanding of the changing priorities and needs of the Yemeni people. He highlighted the urgent need to stabilize the national currency and improve essential services, particularly electricity, water, and healthcare.

Future Projects on the Horizon

Engineer Walid Al-Bahr briefed President Alimi on upcoming projects funded by the Kuwait Fund, which will focus on critical sectors such as electricity, health, and rural roads.

The meeting also included Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, and Falah Al-Hajraf, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Yemen.

This collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing Yemen’s development and addressing the pressing needs of its citizens.
