Today, Dr. Afrah Al-Zuba, Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, met with Yuichi Nakashima, the Japanese Ambassador to Yemen. The two officials explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and expand its scope across various developmental sectors.

Appreciating Japan’s Ongoing Support

Minister Al-Zuba expressed gratitude on behalf of the Yemeni government for Japan’s continuous support. This assistance spans critical areas such as health, nutrition, water, sanitation, and education. Additionally, Japan has contributed to strengthening customs infrastructure, providing specialized equipment, and implementing capacity-building programs for Yemeni personnel.

Highlighting Generous Contributions

The Minister praised Japan’s generous contributions through United Nations agencies operating in Yemen. These efforts have positively impacted millions of beneficiaries across different provinces, showcasing Japan’s commitment to humanitarian aid.

Government Priorities and Future Collaboration

During the meeting, Minister Al-Zuba outlined the new government’s priorities, focusing on economic recovery, improving essential services, and enhancing institutional governance. She emphasized her eagerness to deepen the partnership with Japan and broaden cooperation to include new sectors that align with national development priorities.
