The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ismail Ould Cheikh, has strongly condemned the attacks carried out by Houthi militias against Mecca, Medina, and the provinces of Taif and Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, Ismail Ould Cheikh highlighted that the targeting of Wadi al-Maghmas near the sacred site of Arafat with a ballistic missile exemplifies the perpetrators’ blatant disregard for the sanctity of holy places and the safety of civilians.
He warned of the serious repercussions that could arise from the continuation of these criminal acts. Ould Cheikh emphasized the necessity for the Muslim world to act collectively and adopt a firm and responsible stance to deter the Houthi militia and put an end to their hostile practices.
The OIC Secretary-General reiterated the organization’s complete solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He expressed support for all measures taken to protect its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its territory, citizens, and residents.
Ould Cheikh affirmed that violating the sanctity of Islamic holy sites constitutes an attack on the entire Islamic nation. He called for a decisive international response and immediate action to halt these aggressions and hold those responsible accountable.
