On Wednesday, the National Coalition Council of Political Parties, led by Dr. Ahmed bin Dagher, convened to explore avenues for bilateral cooperation with Shao Cheng, the Chargé d’Affaires of the People’s Republic of China in Yemen. The discussions focused on reconstruction, economic recovery, and the exchange of expertise to support Yemen’s development.
During the meeting, Dr. bin Dagher praised the long-standing friendship between Yemen and China. He highlighted China’s humanitarian and economic support, especially during Yemen’s challenging circumstances. This partnership plays a crucial role in fostering stability in the region.
Dr. bin Dagher emphasized that China serves as a vital international partner in promoting regional and global stability. He called for expanding cooperation between the two nations, particularly in developmental and economic sectors.
The council leader pointed out that the Houthi militia poses the most significant barrier to peace efforts in Yemen. He stressed the urgent need to restore state institutions and end the coup, urging China to take an active role in unifying international support for Yemen’s legitimacy. Dr. bin Dagher advocated for a comprehensive and just peace based on three key references: the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
In response, the Chinese Chargé d’Affaires expressed his country’s appreciation for the National Coalition’s efforts. He reaffirmed China’s steadfast position in supporting Yemen and its commitment to a peaceful political process. The ambassador emphasized the importance of initiatives that lead to restoring security, stability, and development in Yemen.
The discussions between the National Coalition Council and the Chinese representative underscore a mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation. Both parties recognize the importance of collaborative efforts to address Yemen’s pressing challenges and work towards a brighter future.
