Minister of Defense Meets French Ambassador to Yemen
Today, Major General Taher Ali Al-Oqeili, Yemen’s Minister of Defense, held a meeting with Catherine Colonna, the French Ambassador to Yemen, and Military Attaché Major Junaid Joda. This meeting focused on strengthening military and defense cooperation between Yemen and France.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
During the discussions, both parties explored ways to enhance collaboration in military and defense sectors. They also addressed the latest developments in Yemen’s national situation and other mutual interests. Minister Al-Oqeili praised the strong bilateral relations between Yemen and France, highlighting France’s supportive stance towards Yemen’s constitutional legitimacy. He acknowledged France’s active role in promoting security and stability in the region.
Continued Support from France
In response, Ambassador Colonna congratulated Minister Al-Oqeili on earning the trust of Yemen’s political leadership. She reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government. Furthermore, she emphasized France’s dedication to Yemen’s security, stability, and unity. The ambassador also assured that France would continue to coordinate efforts in defense matters to benefit both nations and contribute to international peace and security.

The meeting also included the presence of Brigadier General Yahya Al-Wa’il, the Military Attaché at the Yemeni Embassy in Riyadh.
