On Friday, the Presidential Leadership Council convened an extraordinary meeting led by President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi. Key members, including Aidarus Al-Zubaidi, Sultan Al-Aradah, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, and Dr. Abdullah Alimi, attended in person. Council members Othman Majali and Faraj Al-Bahssani participated via video conference.
At the start of the meeting, the Council extended heartfelt congratulations to the Yemeni people, both domestically and abroad, on the 62nd anniversary of the October 14 Revolution. They reaffirmed their commitment to the values and sacrifices of the revolutionaries, emphasizing the importance of freedom, justice, and human dignity. The Council also highlighted the need for collaboration with various national forces to restore state institutions and reinforce the principles of republican governance and equal citizenship.
The Council discussed recent local developments across various sectors, focusing on economic and security updates, as well as the progress of comprehensive reforms. They praised the government’s and the Central Bank’s efforts to achieve monetary and financial stability. These initiatives have helped ensure timely salary payments for state employees and improve public services as part of the national recovery plan. This plan has bolstered donor confidence in the government and its institutions, leading to the International Monetary Fund’s announcement to resume activities in Yemen after an 11-year hiatus.
The Council reiterated its support for the government’s reform agenda, empowering it to exercise its constitutional and legal authority fully. This support aims to enhance the government’s capacity to access resources and improve citizens’ living conditions.
The Presidential Leadership Council reaffirmed its commitment to partnership and national consensus, guided by the transitional phase’s references, including the power transfer declaration and the Council’s operational rules. This commitment aims to ensure unity and strengthen the state’s legal standing while mobilizing efforts to counter the Houthi militia’s coup, which is backed by the Iranian regime.
The Council expressed profound gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for their sincere support and continuous backing of economic and financial reforms. They specifically acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s recent assistance to the public budget, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing economic stability and alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
On a regional level, the Council welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, facilitated by U.S. President Donald Trump. They commended the efforts of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, and other friendly nations in achieving this historic agreement. The Council expressed hope that this milestone would pave the way for an end to the humanitarian crisis faced by the Palestinian people and initiate a fair and lasting peace process that ensures the establishment of a fully sovereign Palestinian state.
In light of these developments and their potential impact on local conditions, the Council took several necessary measures. They emphasized the importance of close coordination with regional and international partners to enhance opportunities for peace and stability in Yemen and the surrounding region, addressing shared challenges and threats at all levels.
This meeting underscores the Council’s commitment to fostering a stable and prosperous Yemen while navigating complex regional dynamics.
