Minister of Interior Strengthens Security Cooperation with the United Kingdom

Today, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, Yemen’s Minister of Interior, met with Michelle Atkinson, Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Yemen, and Martin Omscho, the Security Attaché at the UK Embassy for Yemen, Eritrea, and Djibouti. The discussion focused on enhancing the bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.

Enhancing Security Collaboration

The meeting addressed ways to bolster joint cooperation between Yemen and the United Kingdom in training and rehabilitating personnel from the Ministry of Interior. Participants discussed capacity building and supporting security agencies in combating terrorism and organized crime. Additionally, they emphasized the need to enhance the Coast Guard’s capabilities to ensure security and stability in coastal areas.

Updates on Security Conditions

During the meeting, Minister Haidan reviewed the current security situation in Yemen, highlighting the ministry’s efforts to promote safety and stability. He also discussed improving the performance of security agencies and increasing their readiness to face challenges and threats. Haidan stressed the importance of expanding cooperation and partnership with the United Kingdom to support the ministry’s capabilities and enhance the efficiency of its security forces.

United Kingdom’s Commitment to Security Support

In response, Deputy Ambassador Atkinson reaffirmed her government’s commitment to continue supporting the Ministry of Interior. She underscored the significance of strengthening collaboration and coordination in security matters to aid efforts in establishing security and stability in Yemen.

The meeting also included the participation of Major General Dr. Faiz Ghalab, the Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior, who expressed readiness to collaborate with the British side in training and rehabilitation initiatives.
