Meeting Focuses on Oil Sector Challenges and Future Plans

On Tuesday, Abdul Rahman Al-Mahrami, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with Dr. Mohammed Bamqah, the Minister of Oil and Minerals. The discussion centered on the current state of the oil sector and the challenges it faces. They also reviewed government efforts aimed at enhancing production and developing national resources.

Supply Status and Government Efforts

During the meeting, Al-Mahrami listened to a detailed report from the Minister regarding the supply situation of oil derivatives across various liberated provinces. The Minister highlighted the ministry’s efforts to ensure stable supplies and provide fuel to citizens and vital facilities, particularly electricity generation stations. They also addressed the key challenges confronting the sector in this regard.

The meeting explored future plans designed to improve the ministry’s performance. They discussed enhancing the organization of import and distribution processes to ensure stable supplies of essential oil derivatives for citizens and critical sectors. Al-Mahrami emphasized the need for effective mechanisms to stabilize the supply of oil derivatives in liberated provinces. He stressed the importance of regularly and sustainably securing fuel needs for the electricity sector. He reiterated support for government efforts to stabilize the oil market and protect the national economy from the repercussions of Houthi attacks on economic facilities.

Acknowledgment of Saudi Support

Al-Mahrami praised the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the energy and oil derivatives sector. Recently, Saudi Arabia offered urgent assistance amounting to $150 million to cover the operational needs of electricity generation stations in liberated provinces. He noted that this support reflects the deep brotherly relations between the two countries and demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to stabilizing Yemen and ensuring the continuity of essential services.

Minister’s Commitment to Stability

In response, Minister Bamqah expressed his gratitude to Al-Mahrami for his ongoing interest and continuous follow-up on the ministry’s situation. He assured that the ministry would continue to implement its plans and programs aimed at enhancing supply stability, developing work mechanisms, and ensuring the availability of oil derivatives for citizens and service sectors in various liberated provinces.

This meeting underscores the collaborative efforts between the Yemeni government and international partners to address the pressing challenges in the oil sector and ensure the well-being of the Yemeni people.
