Minister of Interior Discusses Security Cooperation with U.S. Charge d’Affaires

Today, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, Yemen’s Minister of Interior, met with Neil Hope, the U.S. Charge d’Affaires in Yemen, to explore ways to enhance joint security cooperation. This meeting highlights the ongoing commitment between Yemen and the United States to address pressing security challenges.

Strengthening U.S. Support for Yemen’s Security

During the meeting, Minister Haidan expressed gratitude for the support the United States provides to Yemen, particularly in border security and coast guard operations. He emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in crime prevention and enhancing security capabilities. This collaboration aims to effectively tackle the increasing security threats facing Yemen.

Addressing Ongoing Security Challenges

Major General Haidan outlined the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to maintain security and stability amid ongoing escalations from Houthi militias. He pointed out that these groups pose significant threats to the safety of citizens and international maritime navigation. Haidan stressed the necessity of strengthening coordination and joint efforts to confront these challenges, protect shared interests, and support regional security and stability.

Commitment to Continued Security Collaboration

In response, Neil Hope reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to further developing security cooperation with Yemen’s Ministry of Interior. He highlighted the importance of enhancing support in priority areas, which will help improve the efficiency and capabilities of Yemen’s security forces.

This meeting marks a significant step in reinforcing the partnership between Yemen and the United States, focusing on shared goals of security and stability in the region.
