Yemen and Portugal Strengthen Diplomatic Ties

Ministerial Meeting Highlights Cooperation

Today, Dr. Shai’a Al-Zindani, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met with his Portuguese counterpart, Paulo Rangel, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations between Yemen and Portugal. The meeting took place during the high-level international conference focused on peacefully resolving the Palestinian issue and implementing the two-state solution, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

Support for Yemen’s Legitimacy

During the discussion, Minister Al-Zindani expressed gratitude for Portugal’s support of Yemen’s constitutional legitimacy. He emphasized the importance of aligning the two countries’ positions in international forums to serve mutual interests and bolster efforts for peace and stability in the region.

Commitment to Peace Initiatives

In response, Minister Rangel reaffirmed Portugal’s commitment to supporting peace efforts in Yemen. He expressed readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in political and humanitarian areas. This commitment underscores the shared goal of fostering stability in Yemen.

Key Attendees at the Meeting

The meeting also included Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, and Special Advisor Salem Ba’afi, who serves as the Minister’s private secretary. Their presence highlights the importance of this diplomatic engagement.

This meeting marks a significant step in strengthening Yemen-Portugal relations, paving the way for future collaboration in various sectors.
