The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council calls for a united national front to address local and regional changes.

President Calls for National Unity on 61st Anniversary of October 14 Revolution

In a powerful address to the nation, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, urged all political and social forces to draw inspiration from the spirit of the October 14 Revolution. He emphasized the need for enhanced national unity to confront local and regional changes while advancing efforts to restore state institutions and dismantle the ongoing coup.

During his speech commemorating the 61st anniversary of the October 14 Revolution, President Alimi stated, “The values of October and September, along with the current national obligations, compel us to work collaboratively to achieve our fundamental goals and navigate Yemen through this increasingly complex juncture amid rapid regional developments.”

Addressing Challenges and Responsibilities

In the speech delivered on his behalf by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Waed Bazeeb, President Alimi highlighted the historical responsibility to unify the republican front against new colonial projects. He pointed out that these projects aim to undermine the will of the Yemeni people and fragment its social fabric, driven largely by Iranian influence.

Despite the challenges created by the Houthi militia’s coup, the President affirmed that the spirit of September, October, and November continues to renew with each dawn. He encouraged the Yemeni people to believe in a brighter future, stating, “Yemen will overcome all obstacles if our hearts and efforts unite. Together, we will achieve this with confidence and sincerity.”

Commitment to State Obligations

The President reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations, particularly in ensuring the payment of salaries, securing fuel supplies, and maintaining essential services such as electricity, water, education, and healthcare.

He acknowledged the patience and sense of responsibility shown by the Yemeni people and the support from allies. He emphasized a calm strategy aimed at transforming crises into opportunities, particularly the oil export crisis into a chance to develop self-revenue, and improving the international reputation of Yemen through diplomatic and developmental initiatives.

A Call to Action Against External Threats

President Alimi stressed the need to prepare for any potential escalation from the Houthi militia, which he labeled as an existential challenge to the Yemeni identity and its relationships with the regional and international community. He condemned the militia’s reckless actions, including invoking Israeli aggression against Yemen’s infrastructure, which only exacerbates regional suffering and fails to alter the conflict’s dynamics.

He reaffirmed Yemen’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state, in accordance with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative. He also expressed solidarity with Lebanon’s sovereignty and its exclusive right to control its arms.

Conclusion: A Vision for the Future

In closing, President Alimi expressed hope that the Houthi militia would seize the opportunity presented by recent changes to reassess its actions. He urged prioritizing the interests of the Yemeni people and the integrity of the nation as the best path to support the Palestinian cause and lead Yemen toward safety and stability.

The President’s address resonated with themes of resilience, unity, and a commitment to a democratic future for Yemen, reflecting the enduring legacy of the October Revolution and the ongoing struggle for national sovereignty.
