On Thursday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, received a draft of the regulations governing the council’s operations. The legal team, led by Judge Hamoud Al-Hattar, presented the draft, which outlines the framework for the council, the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority, and both the legal and economic teams. This submission aligns with Article Three of the Power Transfer Declaration.
Article Three of the Power Transfer Declaration mandates the formation of a legal team composed of qualified national experts. Their task is to draft regulations that will guide the operations of the Presidential Leadership Council and the associated bodies. Once completed, this draft will be submitted to the President for approval and subsequent issuance as law.
During the meeting, President Alimi listened to a comprehensive explanation from the head of the legal team regarding the draft’s content. The document consists of 59 articles organized into six sections. The legal team demonstrated professionalism and a strong sense of national responsibility, reflecting their deep understanding of the exceptional circumstances and the transitional phase. This effort aligns with the commitments made by the Presidential Leadership Council, which enjoys support from both regional and international communities.
President Alimi also reviewed the legal team’s future plans and activities. The team aims to serve as a legal reference body, ensuring that the state leadership meets its obligations in relevant areas of expertise and responsibility.
President Alimi commended the efforts of the legal team, including its head and members, for their work on the draft regulations. Once the approval process is complete, this document will serve as a crucial legislative reference. It will help advance the aspirations and hopes of the Yemeni people by enforcing the rule of law and strengthening the unity of political factions opposing the Iranian-backed Houthi agenda.
