On Tuesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, received the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ihab Abu Sereih. This meeting highlighted the strong ties between Yemen and Egypt.
During the meeting, Ambassador Abu Sereih conveyed warm greetings from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He expressed wishes for peace, security, and stability for the Yemeni people. In return, President Alimi sent his regards to President Sisi, wishing him good health and happiness, while also extending hopes for progress and prosperity for the Egyptian people under his wise leadership.
President Alimi congratulated Egypt on its impressive performances in the World Cup. He expressed his hopes for continued success and the achievement of results that honor the rich history of Egyptian football.
The President reiterated his deep appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in enhancing security and stability in the region. He emphasized the importance of defending shared Arab interests. Furthermore, he praised the historical and distinguished relations between Yemen and Egypt, which are rooted in brotherhood and a shared destiny.
President Alimi noted the alignment of Yemeni and Egyptian views on various Arab, regional, and international issues. He highlighted the ongoing coordination between the two nations at all levels, especially in light of the complex challenges facing the region.
The President commended Egypt’s sincere efforts to contain regional tensions and reduce escalation. He acknowledged these efforts as vital for regional security and for preventing further humanitarian and economic risks.
The discussion also covered the current situation in Yemen, particularly the government’s efforts to implement economic reforms despite the exceptional circumstances imposed by the Houthi militia’s war. President Alimi appreciated the support from Saudi Arabia for these reforms, which aim to achieve sustainable economic recovery.
Looking ahead, President Alimi expressed his desire to build on the outcomes of the strategic dialogue held in Cairo at the end of May. He emphasized the need to activate the joint ministerial committee to enhance cooperation in various fields, particularly in training, capacity building, higher education, investment, and reconstruction.
Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, attended the meeting, underscoring the importance of this diplomatic engagement.
This meeting reinforces the commitment of both nations to strengthen their partnership and address shared challenges effectively.
