President Alimi Holds Emergency Meeting with High Security Committee

On Sunday, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, convened an emergency meeting with the High Security Committee. This meeting aimed to bolster security and stability in Yemen while facilitating government efforts and the Central Bank’s management of the economic, service, and financial situations.

Key Attendees and Discussions

The meeting included several high-ranking officials, such as Minister of Defense and Head of the High Security Committee, Major General Mohsen Al-Daari; Minister of Interior, Major General Ibrahim Haidan; and Head of the National Security Agency, Major General Ahmed Al-Masabi. Other attendees included Major General Ahmed Al-Yafai, Head of Military Intelligence and Reconnaissance, and Major General Noor Al-Din Al-Yami, Deputy Head of the Political Security Agency. The meeting also welcomed Ahmed Lamlas, Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Dr. Muhammad Omar Banajeh, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Yemen, and Major General Muthar Al-Shaibi, Director of Aden Police.

During the discussions, the committee addressed various security and military issues, focusing on enhancing security and stability in the temporary capital, Aden, and liberated provinces. They also reviewed necessary measures to counter the threats posed by Houthi militias and their allied groups.

Reports and Action Plans

The meeting provided updates from the Ministers of Defense and Interior, along with reports from relevant agencies regarding the issues on the agenda. They discussed the actions taken at various levels to address these challenges effectively.

A significant focus of the meeting was the role of the High Security Committee in supporting the Central Bank’s efforts. This includes enabling the bank to manage monetary policy, protect the national currency, stabilize the exchange market, and combat currency speculation and black market practices that harm the national economy and living conditions.

Acknowledgment of Security Forces’ Efforts

President Alimi praised the successes of the armed forces and security agencies in combating terrorism, smuggling, and organized crime. He highlighted their crucial role in reinforcing security and stability in Aden and the liberated provinces.

The President emphasized the importance of the High Security Committee in enhancing decision-making related to security and military matters. He called for a swift response to evolving threats and the need to combat money and weapon smuggling, as well as drug trafficking.

 

The meeting concluded with the presence of Major General Saleh Al-Maqalih, Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, underscoring the collaborative approach to addressing Yemen’s pressing security and economic challenges.
