On Thursday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, wrapped up a fruitful three-day state visit to the Russian Federation. During his visit, he engaged in bilateral discussions with President Vladimir Putin, senior officials from the State Duma, and members of the Russian government. Alimi also met with political, diplomatic, and intellectual figures interested in Yemen’s affairs.
The discussions between President Alimi and Russian leadership centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation and the long-standing relationship between the two friendly nations. They coordinated their positions on various issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of collaboration.
The talks also addressed the desired Russian support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government. Both sides discussed efforts to restore state institutions and promote peace and stability in Yemen.
As he departed Moscow, President Alimi expressed his deep gratitude to President Putin, the Russian government, and the friendly Russian people for their warm welcome and hospitality. He conveyed his satisfaction with the visit’s outcomes, which he believes will pave the way for broader cooperation and coordination across various fields.
President Alimi praised Russia’s steadfast support for the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership. He reaffirmed his appreciation for Russia’s commitment to helping Yemen restore its state institutions, security, stability, and peace.
Additionally, Alimi acknowledged the facilities provided for Yemeni citizens and students studying in Russia. He highlighted the opportunities available to strengthen Russian support in this area.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, Yemen’s Ambassador to Russia Ahmed Salem Al-Wahishi, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Russian Embassy in Yemen, Yevgeny Kudrov, bid farewell to President Alimi and his accompanying delegation.
This visit marks a significant step in fostering stronger ties between Yemen and Russia, with potential benefits for both nations.
